Developing Women in the Community

DWC - The Developing Women in the Community programme is designed to inspire and empower women across the Derry and Strabane District Council area and is funded by the Department for Communities. DWC offers accredited training, leadership development, and practical support in areas such as mental health, family support, and community engagement. Participants in this supportive network have taken part in accredited programmes in Community Development and Adverse Childhood Experiences, while also developing transformative community projects that promote safer, stronger, and more cohesive communities. The programme’s core aim is to create a positive and lasting impact within the local community.

TrACE to Transform

TTT - The Trace to Transform programme is aimed at empowering women and young people across Derry and Donegal to create positive, lasting change in their communities. TTT is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs.  The programme offers training and practical support on topics such as human development, resilience-building, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma-informed approaches. Participants explore critical community issues, including poverty, sectarianism, and community violence, whilst developing leadership and citizenship skills. Through collaborative intergenerational workshops and solution-focused activities, women and young people are encouraged to break negative intergenerational cycles of trauma and ideologies and work together for stronger, more cohesive communities. The programme culminates with a Learning Conference to share insights and inspire collective action, helping participants become confident advocates for family and community resilience.

Health Equalities and Education

We run programmes that help those impacted by health inequalities across the Northwest. These programmes include healthy cooking, linking food to health, and providing healthy food packs to encourage healthier family meals. We also participate in the Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership Programme and have partnered with Murphy’s Pharmacy collaborating on innovative projects to improve community health and well-being. The focus of these programmes is on tackling health inequalities, and to empower individuals and families through education, support, and collaboration. By combining the expertise of community organisations and local pharmacies, it provides accessible, practical solutions to health challenges, fostering a stronger, healthier, and more informed community. Whether through workshops, health advice, or tailored initiatives, these projects ensure everyone can lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.
